Technical Tour

Visit of the New Champlain Bridge (Montreal , Qc)

The CCEE 2019 Organizing and Site Visit Committees are pleased to invite the conference attendees to be among the first visitors of the New Champlain Bridge in Montreal. This strategic 3.4-km bridge crossing the St Lawrence River is one of the most important projects in North America. The bridge is intended to replace the existing Champlain Bridge, one of North America’s busiest spans, with 50 million cars, buses  and  trucks crossing it each year. The new structure mainly consists of multiple simply-supported spans with a cable-stayed central span. At the time of CCEE 2019, the New Champlain Bridge will be ready for its opening a few days later.

The technical tour will take place in the morning of Friday June 21, 2019, after the end of CCEE 2019. The tour includes transportation by bus from Quebec City to Montreal in the morning, a guided tour of the bridge by principal engineers of this impressive project, a lunch and transportation back to Quebec City. Alternatively, transportation to Montreal downtown or to Pierre Elliot Trudeau airport (YUL) will be offered by a separate bus to the attendees after the technical tour. Registration for the tour is required and places are limited.

Cost: Please consult the table of the fees here (additional to the conference registration – registration online during registration period or on site on Monday June 17 or Tuesday June 18, 2019)
